The other fabrics complementing this collection are a few pieces of handwoven fabric from South West Lombok. To my delight I stumbled upon a local women on her front verandah with a traditional wooden loom while we were exploring quieter parts of the region. She had an ikat design currently on her loom half way complete (image below), and I managed to buy directly from her two gingham pieces she had already completed. Both pieces had vibrant selvedge edges which I've incorporated into the final garments.
I only have two Adventure skirts in this woven fabric available. Our beautiful maker Ketut in Seseh, Bali honoured my request The skirt has pockets on either side and is slightly longer to the back.
Traditionally the piece of fabric in this top was made as a sarong, and so the layout of the design reflects the use and shape of it's initial intended use. Hand batik techniques are used to make this fabric using the canting tool and wax to draw the patterns. This particular batik style is from an area in Central Java called Pekalongan.
